Canterbury Club

15th December 2011

It was with much anticipation and great delight that the Canterbury Club opened its doors in the final days of October to welcome in the Armitage Williams Construction crew and their associated trades people.

These hard working teams have been charged with bringing our beautiful heritage building back to her former glory for the benefit of our members and Christchurch city as a whole after the devastating February earthquake.

They arrived en masse and much has been achieved over the past eight weeks.  The Clubhouse has been lifted at the eastern corner, and foundation repairs are underway.  Skip loads of lathe and plaster have been taken away, with earthquake strengthening and some minor layout changes being implemented.  Painters and plasterers follow behind adding the final touches.

With so much progress being made it is conceivable that early next year the Club will be partially open for members to once again relax, dine, enjoy each others company, and take advantage of the superior facilities on offer.

The Canterbury Club Committee and Staff would like to take this opportunity to wish all the members and their families a festive Christmas season and a very Happy New Year.
