The Canterbury Club offers you the perfect venue for your next celebration, delicious food, great wine and a festive atmosphere. We have six unique private dining rooms which can cater to a range of group sizes and we will happily put together a package to suit your requirements and budget.


The club Events Team will consult on all aspects of your event to ensure the venue, timings, and menu choices meet the needs of your guests. Please enquire directly with the Events Team to arrange an event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below some frequently asked questions that may help with your enquiry.

  • Does a member have to be present at the function?

    Yes, the sponsoring member needs to be present for the duration of the function.

  • Can I hold my function on a weekend?

    There is a minimum spend of $4000 for a function on Saturday or Sunday. Please note that security maybe required on the weekend.

  • Can I bring children to my function?

    Children over the age of 12 years are permitted to attend private functions in one of our private dining rooms and must always be supervised. All other areas of the club are R18. Please let the Events Team know if you have children in attendance at your function.

  • Can my guests access the car park?

    The car park is for club members only. During weekend functions the carpark is available for guests.

  • Can I use electronic devices in the Club?

    All electronic devices shall be either turned off or switched to silent upon entry to the club. Voice communication on electronic devices is not permitted within the club. Should you need to make or take a call please ask staff to direct you to an appropriate location.

  • Do you have Wi-Fi available?

    Free WI-FI is available throughout the Club. Please ask our staff for details.

  • Do you have Eftpos facilities?

    Yes, Eftpos is available in the bar areas and reception.

  • Can we bring our own catering?

    We have an in-house Chef and Kitchen Team who prepare fresh, seasonal menus all year round. We do not allow off- site caterers into the club but our Chef would be more than happy to design a menu for you. If you would like to do this please make a time to come into the Club to discuss your requirements with the Chef.

  • Can we bring our own beverage?

    We have an excellent selection of competitively priced local and international wine, beer and spirits. If you wish to bring a ‘special bottle’ the corkage cost is $25 per bottle.

  • Can I bring my own suppliers in?

    You are more that welcome to bring your own suppliers into help create your event. Please let us know the contact details for those you will be using.

  • Can we bring a birthday cake?

    Absolutely, please advise our Events Team in advance.

  • Can we stay in-house?

    Yes, you and your guests are most welcome to stay in-house. We have six well-appointed rooms with private ensuites. Please enquire when booking.


Terms & Conditions

To confirm a booking please sign the function confirmation form at the bottom of the page and returned to the Events Team.

Menus and beverage selections must be finalised no later than seven days prior to the function date.

  • Cancellations

    Upon receipt of the signed confirmation, any cancellation may result in a cancellation fee of 25% of the function cost. Cancellation within fourteen days prior to the function date may result in a cancellation fee of 50%. A reduction in the number of attendees must be advised no later than seven days prior to the function date or the originally advised number of attendees will be charged for. If your number of attendees does increase, then final numbers must be advised three days prior to the function date.

  • Invitations

    If you would like to publicly advertise The Canterbury Club as your venue for you function, please talk to us about your requirements. The Canterbury Club is a private establishment and out of respect for our members, you and your guests, we want to ensure that we provide an environment in keeping with the Canterbury Clubs values and privacy guidelines.

  • The Final Account

    Full payment is due within seven days of your function date.

  • Hosting Member

    The hosting member must be present for the entirety of the function.

  • Venue

    It is important to note that The Canterbury Club is a private establishment and, as such, use of the club will be limited to your booked space and bathroom facilities expect with prior arrangement.

  • Dress Code

    All attendees must adhere to the club dress code.


    Men- A long sleeve collared business shirt, slacks/chinos dark dress denim.


    Ladies- Elegant dress, separates or smart trousers.


    The following items are not permitted shorts, clothes with logo, jandals/sandals, collarless shirts, sports shoes and trainers, zip type or wind breaker jackets, activewear and ripped or distressed denim.

  • Photography and Media

    Audio, photographic recording and media is permitted only with the prior approval of the General Manager.
